MATCH REPORT
U12 Girls v Market Bosworth
29th November 2022
- Date: 27th November 2022
- League: Leicester Girls League U12 Yellow
- Venue: Kilsby Lane
It was a top of the table clash this week at Kilsby Lane. So far Market Bosworth are the only team to beat us this season so we knew we had a tough mission ahead of us.
Unfortunately we still didn’t have our no.1 goalie Chloe, plus lots of players playing on with illness and injuries meant we were already on the back foot.
The game started quickly and the opposition striker caught us off guard with a quick run and shot that Ava had no chance of stopping. Ruby then made a great run at goal but was denied by the post.
Both teams were showing how strong they are, Isla was making some fantastic runs up the wing, Megan was passing the ball out wide for the wingers, Jess fought hard to win the ball back and Ese used her speed to chase the ball down and keep it in play.
Rugby were thwarted on a couple of occasions by excellent goalkeeping as we pushed to level the game however Market Bosworth’s fast striker managed to get past us to get another goal and then a scramble in the box led to their third goal shortly before half time.
Into the second half the girls really brought the game to the opposition and didn’t let their heads drop. Anna took a corner and made a lovely delivery to Freya who shot high into the top corner out of their keepers reach. This spurred the girls on, Peyton was a real trooper playing on with an illness and still being able to make good tackles, Lexi made sure to come across the defensive line to cover when needed and Ava used her strength and speed to clear any dangerous balls. Mia in goal made some wonderful saves, we especially loved her little dancing celebrations.
The girls were playing some excellent football now and created the better of the chances in the 2nd half. Jess, Anna, Maia and Ruby all had shots but they were either saved by the keeper or hit the woodwork.
Unfortunately despite their best efforts the girls couldn’t find a way through & as the game neared the end Market Bosworth scored from a corner.
Our player of the match Ruby led the line really well today, her hold up play was fantastic!
A tough, well played match from both sides with positive praise coming from both teams, well done to all. Thanks to Jamie for running the line.
