MATCH REPORT

U12 Girls v Hinckley Borough

12th October 2022

Rugby Borough U12’s hosted Hinckley Borough on a bright Sunday morning.

We were unfortunate not to have our faithful goalkeeper Chloe this week, but we’re very lucky that Peyton stepped up to wear the gloves.

The first half was a relatively even contest, our defenders, Ava, Lexi & Mia kept things tight at the back, whilst Ruby and Megan were unlucky not to finish their chances up front.  Anna continued her fine form, taking on and beating her defenders to make some lovely crosses.

Into the second half the girls performance improved.  A change in goal saw Ava volunteering to take the gloves whilst Peyton slotted into her defensive role with ease.  Jess in midfield was starting attacks from deep, driving the team forward and passing the ball out to Amber who was getting into some great open positions.  Isla used her speed to run up the wing and skip past numerous challenges.

The girls were soon rewarded with a goal after Megan played a great through ball for Freya to run on to and smash into the bottom corner.

Maia came on to cover and was a great addition in a new role in defence, linking up well with Mia who was using her skills to get around the opposition, whilst Lexi did a lot of running up the line.  At the other end Ese was working hard to keep pressure on Hinckley’s back line.

Before the final whistle Rugby got a well deserved second goal courtesy of a fine pass by Freya into the box for Ruby to get hold of and slot it easily past their keeper.

In the end it was another well deserved win for the girls,  after a relatively even first half they came out and dominated play in the 2nd half to take all 3 points.

Player of the match for a great all round performance was Freya.

Thanks to Matt for climbing the tree to rescue a ball 🤣🤣🤣 he’s only gone on about it all week
