MATCH REPORT

U12 Girls v Hinckley Borough

26th April 2023

On Sunday the girls travelled  to Hinckley, in weather that can only be described as ‘meh’ for the end of April.

It was nice to see the coaches using a different starting line up this week,it shows that the girls really have solidified as a team and are equal in abilities.

The long boggy grass meant the girls had to adjust their style of play as the ball just wasn’t travelling as far as it usually would.  This didn’t stop the girls playing well and making some good passes.  Jess and Maia in midfield were breaking up play, Ese and Freya on the wings were driving the ball quickly up the pitch and Ruby was making attempts at goal.  At the back Mia spent the match pushing forward then also making some great runs back to win the ball, Ava sped after the ball to keep it in play and used her impressive kicks to send the ball back into the oppositions half and Peyton was great at instructing the wingers to run forward when she was pushing up the line.

Substitutions were made, Isla came on with fresh legs which saw her out running numerous players to drive the ball up the pitch towards goal.  Lexie came into defence and continuously won the ball back from Hinckley’s strong striker.  Megan stepped into midfield to make some lovely passes, one of these was a forward pass to Ruby, which Ruby finished skilfully into the bottom corner.

The match continued in a similar manner, Isla, Ese, Megan and Freya all had some shots go slightly wide or kept out by the woodwork, then Ruby made a well timed block from the opposition goalies kick, which she fired straight into the net.

Chloe had a relatively quiet game as our strong defence kept the ball away from goal, but when the occasional ball slipped through, clean sheet Chloe dealt with it smoothly.

Player of the match was Rugby for her wonderful 5 goals in the last 2 games
