We were back at Kilsby Lane this weekend for a League match versus East Goscote.

After last weeks fantastic game it was great to see the girls start off fast paced again this week.  Quite early on we were unlucky not to score with a few goal mouth scrambles following some excellent corners

In the first half the girls were following their familiar formation and their passing was on form again.  Ava showed her resilience by leading up the defence whilst carrying an injury.  Lexie took some brilliant free kicks that were unlucky not to be converted, and Peyton was driving high up the pitch.  Jess and Megan were busy in midfield winning the ball back, both having shots saved by the oppositions keeper.  

Isla and Anna were adding width to the game by finding space on the wings which meant they could drive forward at every opportunity  and send the ball into Ruby who was holding the ball up well and bringing her team mates into play.

The fresh legs and pace of Freya, Ese and Maia were causing the opposition some problems, creating great link up play between midfield and attack.

We went into the second half 0-0, this didn’t last long, Mia made a great overlapping run up the wing and a fantastic cross into Megan who passed the ball forward for Ruby to score beautifully into the far corner.

Chloe had a busy day, making some fantastic saves with both her hands and feet.  Ruby had another great shot on goal that unfortunately hit the crossbar and bounced the wrong side of the line.

East Goscote pulled a goal back when their impressive Striker latched onto a through ball to score the equalising goal.  A very competitive game of end to end football against very strong opposition who won a free kick in the dying minutes which even Mary Earps wouldn’t have saved.

Two fantastic games have been played between these evenly matched team, both results ending 2-1 to the away team.
