MATCH REPORT

U12 Girls v Croft

11th May 2023

It finally felt like May had arrived for our U12 girls final league match away to Croft this sunny Sunday morning.

The team started off quickly this week, the ball was played to our left back Lexie who showed her great skill, running up the line passed lots of players and using her powerful left foot to send the ball in towards the goal.  Megan and Maia in CM were passing the ball forward, a nice flick of the ball from Megan to Ruby saw Ruby fire the ball into the top corner.

Mia playing right back managed to push the opposition players straight back into their half and had a great shot at goal from outside the box which was unlucky to go in.  There were a few more shots from Isla, Ese, Freya and Ruby, before Freya took a fantastic corner, the ball was met by Lexie who finished it off beautifully.

The wingers Ese and Isla were in turbo mode, they both have such speed to chase the long balls and keep them in play and Anna and Freya were showing great commitment to keep hold of the ball and then make great crosses into the box.

It was lovely to hear Chloe being so vocal from her goal this week, she was instructing her defence well and cheering the girls on, whilst making some good saves.

Into the second half the opposition came out quickly and Borough were caught off guard, their striker managed to find a gap and they pulled one back.  This seemed to spur on our defence, Peyton was not letting anything get past her, winning the ball back and making some great passes forward and Ava cleared the ball with some great headers and long balls.

Jess playing in CDM made a cheeky little run forward to intercept a goal kick that she managed to shoot into the back of the net.  This was quickly followed up by another fine strike by Ruby who shot straight into the bottom corner.

To finish the match off in style, a cross in from Ruby found Maia and she scored a cracking goal to make it 5-1.

Player of the match went to Lexie for excellent work going forward & in defence

I know I speak for all of the parents, supporters and coaches when I say how proud we are of this wonderful team, they have had an amazing season!  They have grown in skill and confidence and we can’t wait to see what they can do next season 🧡

A huge THANK YOU must also go out to those that helped referee and run the line for all of the matches this year, without you the games couldn’t be played 👏🏼
