The under 10’s travelled to Market Bosworth for their final match of 2020 and what an exciting match it was.
The starting line-up saw Peyton as captain and Summer in goal. The girls got off to a wonderful start with Anna using her great close ball control to start a strong early attack. All game she used her body well to shield the ball from the opposition’s strong defenders and help move the team into the opposition’s half.
The second quarter saw Amber take her turn in goal. She was communicating well with her teammates and made some strong passes out to Peyton who played some excellent long balls down the wings. When the opposition were attacking, Peyton and Lyra pressed the opposition straight away to close the ball down and won plenty of tackles. Lyra’s amazing ability to read the game enabled her to get across quickly and help when more assistance was needed. Great defending girls.
The third quarter, Emily went in goal and made multiple great saves. She also demonstrated her powerful kicks when clearing the ball far up the field. In an impressive 1st game for the girls, Alannah was ready in midfield with her high levels of energy. She was always pressing the opposition hard and with her speed and determination, consistently put the oppositions defence under pressure.
Summer was displaying her excellent defensive ability with her fast-paced interception of the opposition counter attacks and made some great passes out to Amber on the wing. All game, Amber used her strong dribbling skills and pace to transition the ball quickly into the opposition half and never gave their defenders time on the ball.
In the final quarter Lyra volunteered to go in goal and she made some wonderful saves. The final quarter was fast paced and end to end with plenty of good footwork from both teams. In only her 2nd game for the girls, you can see Sophia’s confidence is growing. She made lots of accurate passes out to the wings after displaying some great tackling and pressing of the opposition midfield.
All the girls played extremely well; they should be very proud.
