Rugby Borough Women & Girls FC taking part in FA Play Safe Weekend
25th September 2025
This weekend, Rugby Borough Women & Girls FC are proud to join clubs across the country in supporting the FA Play Safe Weekend, a nationwide campaign focused on safeguarding in football.
Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do at Rugby Borough Women & Girls, and this year’s Play Safe message is all about the power of open conversations. It encourages adults to listen to children, ask questions, and create safe spaces where young people feel confident to speak up.
On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September, our coaches, players, parents and volunteers will come together to show our commitment to making football a safe, fun and respectful environment for everyone.
“Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility,” said Sharon Smyth, our club’s Welfare Officer. “By talking openly and listening to our players, we can help ensure that football remains a place where young people can thrive, on and off the pitch.”
The theme for this year’s campaign is Small Talk is Bigger Than You Think, reminding us that simple, everyday conversations can make a huge difference in keeping children safe.
We’re encouraging everyone connected to the club, whether you’re a coach, a parent, a player or a supporter, to join us in supporting this important initiative.
If you ever have a concern about a child’s welfare or safety, please don’t wait – speak up.
You can:
Talk to our Club Welfare Officer, Sharon, by emailing welfare@rugbyboroughgirlsfc.co.uk or speaking to her at training or matches.
Read our Safeguarding Policies for more information on how we protect our players.
Report directly through The FA’s safeguarding guidance.
