RUGBY BOROUGH GIRLS
Girls Match Report Roundup 18th Sept
20th September 2022
This week we want to start this roundup by saying well done to all of our girls who have done the club proud. Since the announcement of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, our girls have shown their respects with minute silences at training and before their matches.
As for match reports this week – it was another bumper-packed Sunday for our teams! Our U8s smashed their second game in the league away to Rugby Town and well done to Violeta who got player of the match on her first ever match for the team!
Our U9 Bobcats had their one-minute silence and wore black armbands with pride during their match against Nuneaton. Well done to Ellie, who was player of the match! A good performance from our U9 Junglecats and player of the match Lily, who played Coalville Ravenettes on Sunday.
The mighty U10 Thundercats had a great game against Epworth with Florence awarded player of the match – well deserved! Playing at Kilsby Lane on Sunday morning, the U11 Pantheras played good football and were pleased with their performance against Kibworth!
FEATURED MATCH REPORT
Rugby Borough U11 Lionesses vs Coalville
- Date: 18 September
- Player of the match: Shirley
After a minutes silence in respect to our late Queen the Lionesses roared to an amazing start. Ellie-mae and Isobel successful in attack followed by great work from Mia. Elisia only had 1 real test in goal due to the dominance of Lara and Shirley.
Second half and this time it was Elisia and Isobel who were successful in attack with Ellie-mae and Isobel again working well. The girls battled all over the pitch Brooke A and Bella were solid with retaining the ball. Whilst Grace covered every blade of grass and started nearly every attack!
Some very neat passing from the girls and a perfect attitude against a physical Coalville team. Well done to player of the match Shirley for her absolutely solid display!
The Under 12s had a brilliant away game and you can read about their win against Anstey Nomads here. The Under 13s were pleased with their 2-1 win in a tense game against Mountsorrel.
Our Under 14s also played on Sunday with Beth being awarded player of the match against a tough side! (This team are still looking for new players now that they’ve moved up to a 11v11 format – please help us spread the word!)
It’s amazing to see our girls teams doing so well each week, and even more amazing to see our club continue to grow as we attract new players and expand to create new teams!
As we grow, we continually want to give a special mention to our club sponsor Amber Utilities, who sponsor the training kits for every member of our girls club! At Friday’s training session, Theresa and Gina were surrounded by all of our teams as they presented Ross of Amber Utilities with a framed club shirt – again, THANK YOU!
