MATCH REPORT ROUNDUP
The 22/23 Season Kicks off for our Girls!
6th September 2022
There was certainly a buzz at Kilsby Lane on Sunday morning as the new 2022/23 season kicked off for most of our girls teams, who play in the Leicestershire Women’s and Girl’s League.
A big shout out to the club’s youngest team, the Under 8s, who played their first ever league match and really enjoyed themselves – as did the parents and grandparents who made it down to Kilsby Lane. Well done to Player of the Match Esme who kept a clean sheet in goals!
Both Under 9 teams also played on Sunday. The U9 Bobcats played a great game against Stoke Golding at home, with Molly being awarded Player of the Match for working hard and playing really well.
The U9 Junglecats had an away game against Ansty and were pleased with the result, especially as they had to work harder without any subs!
The super U10 Thundercats played amazingly well against a tough Dunton side, and the U11 Pantheras enjoyed their away game!
FEATURED MATCH REPORT
Rugby Borough U11 Lionesses vs Sileby
- Date: 4 September
- Players of the match: Grace & Ellie-May
So the first game of the season was upon us on a lovely morning down Kilsby Lane. The Rugby Borough Lionesses really showed how much they’d missed playing and carried on their form from last season.
Some great attacking play from Isobel and Mia. Brooke, Ellie-may, Sophie, Grace and Elisia were up and down the pitch picking perfect passes, great tackles and brilliant dribbling. The defence stood strong with Lara, Shirley as calm as ever. Players played with smiles in different positions and smashed it!!
The Under 12s played Market Bosworth and Manager Gary was pleased with the effort from the team, well done to the players. The Under 13s had a great first game back, reported Manager Stacey – keep up the good work team!
Our Under 14s played their first 11v11 league match on home ground where they faced a tough Haunchwood side. The girls put in a great effort and performance, with just one sub! (This team are still looking for new players now that they’ve moved up to a 11v11 format – please help us spread the word!)
A big well done to all involved in getting the first set of matches off to a flying start – thank you to our Committee, coaches, referees, volunteers and parents who continue to support our Women & Girls Club. We can’t wait for match day 2!
