MATCH REPORT

U11 Girls v Loughborough foxes

25th April 2022

The girls knew a win would secure their place for a home semi final in a couple of weeks time & they duly delivered a clinical performance to achieve this.

Right from the start Rugby put pressure on their opponents and very quickly took the lead though a strike from Megan despite the goalie’s best effort to keep it out.

The first half was largely played in the Loughborough half with strong defending by Peyton & Ava meaning that any opposition attacks were quickly shut down and changed into Rugby attacks.  This trend continued with Lyra & Sophia taking responsibility for protecting the clean sheet.

Going forward the girls were playing some excellent football & good link up play between Ese, Ruby & Anna made sure the Loughborough defence were kept on their toes.

Ruby took a good chance with an excellent run & finish past the keeper whilst Megan added another with a great placed. As the half wore on Freya & Amber came on and continued the great football to create chances for the team whilst Jess showed her great determination & skill in the middle of the park.

Chloe’s main involvement was to bravely challenge the Loughborough striker prevented a goal scoring chance but taking a sore one into the bargain.

Into the 2nd half and the girls made a blistering start to effectively seal the game.   It was one way traffic all the way and some excellent football was again on display with Anna, Amber, Ese, Freya, Megan & Peyton all getting in amongst the goals.

It was really encouraging to see the girls play their passing style all the way through this match & there were some excellent combinations leading to the goals.

In midfield Jess & Ruby were getting all over the pitch to win the ball back whilst Ava, Sophia, Lyra & Chloe ensured the team kept the clean sheet

The girls played some terrific football & scored some fantastic goals in a dominating display to reach the final.  Player of the match was Peyton for a great defensive performance & cracking long range goal.

One more game to go in an excellent season & it couldn’t get any bigger than a final against our local rivals. Roll on the 8th May!
