MATCH REPORT

U11 Girls v Coalville

17th January 2022

Amazing performance by the U11 Girls

The girls arrived ready to go for a very early kick off on the Astro at Kilsby Lane & they duly delivered an outstanding performance.  As they have done lately the girls started on the front foot playing some brilliant attacking football which didn’t give the opposition time to settle.

Megan and Ruby controlled the midfield from the start showing great footwork to start the attacks and very quickly one of these was converted with a fine strike from Amber.  On the other wing Anna was demonstrating her great dribbling skills to get to the bye line & deliver pin point crosses into the box.   As the half wore on the momentum stayed with Rugby pushing forward at every opportunity

Ese came off the bench to further stretch the lead a couple of times showing excellent control, speed & finishing.   Ava came on to play in midfield & did well to break up play with her great tackling to prevent Coalville from getting forward.

Coalville were limited to a couple of chances through excellent defending by Peyton, Leah & then Sophia.  Chloe was called into action towards the end of the 1st half making a great save from close range.  It was a first half Rugby dominated though and was rounded off by another couple of strikes from Amber.

Into the second half and the team were determined to keep the performance levels high and started to pile the pressure on which was quickly rewarded courtesy of an excellent penalty from Anna after she was brought down in the box.   The girls created lots of chances and it was great to see these being converted by Ruby & Amber.

The Rugby defenders pushed up high to make sure the majority of the game was played in the opposition half with Peyton & Leah intercepting anything that came their way.  Ese kept the Coalville defenders on their toes with her strong running and on the occasional opposition breakaway Sophia & Ava were quick to put in strong tackles.

Megan pushed forward determined to get on the score sheet and was rewarded for her efforts near the end.  Coalville to their credit kept going and converted an excellent effort themselves despite Chloe’s best efforts to keep it out.

This was probably the best team performance of the season so far with everyone bringing their A game,  the girls demonstrated the full range of their skills & were a joy to watch.

Player of the match was Ese for her excellent dribbling & shooting.
