The game started off really well with Rugby Borough having the majority of possession and playing the ball around well, this led to Lorna having a shot and hitting the crossbar very early on. Leamington Hibs had a few attempts at a counter attack but the solid defence stood firm and nothing got past them.

The first goal for Rugby Borough was a very well worked goal, Lexi played the ball from the back to Bailey in midfield, she made the pass to Maxwell who played a lovely ball straight to Sarah who finished the ball in the corner of the goal. Rugby had many chances at goal and were unlucky not to score more before half time.

After some much needed time to rehydrate and get the fluids on board, Rugby started the second half with a purpose, a long kick from Beth went straight over everyone’s heads, Sarah leapt onto the ball and finished well, making it 2-0 to Rugby Borough. The pace of Borough’s game then slowed down after the second goal went in, maybe the heat was starting to have an effect but  Leamington Hibs sensed this and had a good 15 minutes. Holding possession well, however, Borough’s defence and Beth kept everything away from their goal.

Borough stepped up a gear in the hope of regaining some possession, Bailey collected the ball in midfield and struck a shot from the edge of the box which hit the crossbar. Rugby started to pick up the pace once more and looked like they had regained some confidence in possession with another well worked goal with Maxwell and Charlotte linking up well again, Maxwell scored with a well hit shot from the edge of the box. Rugby Borough 3 – 0 Leamington Hibs.

Rugby finished the game with some quick passing and really good positioning. In the last minutes of the game Charlotte took a shot from the edge of the area and scored her first goal of the new season.
A much better performance from the team this week. Well done to Lorna for getting girl of the game!
