Rugby Borough U10 Pumas victorious in Coventry & Warwickshire League Trophy Event

28th September 2020

Rugby Borough Pumas (1) vs Stratford Town (0)

The second game of the Coventry & Warwickshire League Trophy Event saw the Pumas face a tough home game against Stratford Town. With the Pumas having lost a preseason friendly against Stratford, they knew it was going to be a tough game. With Fynn Lafferty in goal and captain, Bradley Brookes and Austin Bishop in defence they stood firm and resisted an attacking onslaught from the off. Beau McNeilage gave another solid performance in central midfield, whilst Felix James and James Olatunji work hard down the flanks. Kryspin Gos led the attack for the Pumas, and as the end of the first half drew close, it was Gos that finished some good build-up play with a low and hard shot past the opposition keeper.

James Catling and Tyler Moreton entered the frame and gave solid performances throughout with Tyler pressing high upfront and Catling taking charge of the left flank position making some fine challenges along the way. The Pumas worked hard every minute of the game, and with some vital saves from the Man of the Match, Fynn Lafferty, the boys finished the game victorious.

Commenting on the success of the game, the coach, Stu Bishop said.

“The boys rode their luck in times during the game but I cannot credit them enough for their hard work and determination throughout. With only one game remaining I am confident we can secure another victory and move into the next round.”
