Some new faces in the team through the Summer as we continue to build a squad capable of challenging for honours this year. Borough started the game using some different tactics and positions as we get ready for the season. Rugby were playing the ball around neatly but a strong Hereford side began exerting their dominance creating a few chances but Beth and the defence did their job, holding a high line playing the offside trap.

A slight lapse in concentration and a good shot from the Hereford forward made it 1-0 to the home side. Rugby continued playing football, making some strong challenges and were unlucky not to score at the end of the half after creating a decent chance.

A quick shuffle in the Borough team with people moving into different positions again as Rugby tried something different for the second half.

Rugby were passing the ball around well and creating a few chances but just couldn’t convert. Hereford had the better chances in the game but Rugby’s defence and Beth in goal were strong again. Hereford played well and we wish them the best of luck for the next round and their new season ahead.

The women played as a unit and communicated well throughout the game. First game since March and with the new look squad it looks like a promising season for Rugby Borough Women. Well done to Sam and Lexi for their first games for the club and well done to Sophie Clarke on her return.
