Walsall Ladies Dev v Rugby Borough Women

3rd March 2020

Squad: Chloe, Anna, Nat, Sarah, Cammie, Em, Charlotte, Katie, Emily, Bailey, Maisie, Suzie, Molly, Amy, Leanne, Meg B.

A full squad of 16 players for the trip to Walsall Ladies this week, played in all sorts of weather conditions. Rugby started off well, playing the ball on the floor with through balls to Sarah and Charlotte.

A few chances were wasted by Borough but they were pressing well with the midfield stroking the ball around nicely. Rugby broke and saw Sarah beating the defenders for speed and placing the ball in the bottom corner for 0-1. Rugby made some substitutions to freshen up the team and to add a little more pace. Walsall were beginning to press and the Rugby defence didn’t let the ball get past them.

Rugby were creating the better chances and Suzie then got through on goal, she scored making a huge impact just before half time. Rugby had a lot of good chances and the passing play was great to see. Probably should have converted a couple more chances before the half time whistle.

Walsall Ladies Dev 0 – 2 Rugby Borough Women

The second half got underway with high pressing from the Borough women again, leading to many saves from the Walsall keeper who had a really good game. A quick throw was taken by Maisie who received the ball back after making an excellent run, she then crossed the ball over and found Charlotte perfectly who slotted home for Rugby’s third of the day. Some great play leading up to that goal.

With 20 mins left of the game Meg B hit a shot from outside of the box scoring a lovely goal. 0-4 to Rugby and now very comfortable with the score line and still creating chances. Walsall broke in the last 5 mins of the game but Em fouled one of the Walsall attackers inside the box, a penalty to Walsall. Nat who stepped up in goal again, made a good save, and kept another clean sheet.

Another good result for Rugby Borough Women, with two wins in a row and two clean sheets! Upto 5th in the table!
