MATCH REPORT

Under 9s Girls v Croft

26th October 2020

Following a week off playing last weekend the team were back in action on Sunday for the return fixture against Croft Juniors.

As ever the action started as soon as the match kicked off with our girls applying pressure to Crofts defence straight away. The first half saw most of the action in Crofts own half with a number of throws and corner kicks going our way.

Isabel was pressing forward and getting herself in great spaces in front of goal to capitalise on crosses from her team mates. She was finding some serious power to put behind her attempts – there was no stopping her. She was reliable in defence when needed too!

Rather than assuming her usual place in goal Sophie started the match in midfield alongside Mia. She showed off her skills with some great movement on the ball and she wasn’t afraid of pushing forward and heading for goal! Sophie spent the second half in goal making some confident saves and goal kicks as usual.

Mia started in midfield alongside Sophie with the pair of them making some brilliant passes to each other. Mia worked hard to keep possession, running down the wings from the back and drawing corner kicks and throws from the Croft players when there were no clear passes available.

Lara started off in goal for the first half and didn’t have a great deal to do, but when called upon she got stuck right in to making saves. Once she was out on the field she showed how she’s developed already this season, never giving up on trying to win back possession and chasing the ball down. It’s great to see her improvement each week.

Brooke worked hard all match as usual making some excellent challenges to win back possession in defence and pushing forward too. Full of confidence Brooke was making some brilliant attempts at goal when she had the chance.

The girls have really improved how they communicate with one another on the pitch, growing in confidence asking for passes and deciding who to take free kicks and throw ins.

Isabel was awarded player of the match for showing her versatility throughout the match. Keep up the good work Isabel!

Thanks again to Maddie & Grace from the under 15’s team for being our match referees. They both do a brilliant job and the girls really look up to them.
