MATCH REPORT

Under 9 girls v Rothwell under 9’s

2nd May 2021

A brilliant game of football from our under 9’s today. They all played their socks off for the entire match and left the pitch absolutely chuffed with themselves!

In training the girls have been working on their passing and getting into space for their team mates and they really put it in to practice today.

Having played in goal and out on the field for the last few weeks Sophie fancied being in goal for the full match today and was her usual calm and collected self making some confident saves when called upon.

Elisia played up front and showed real determination to keep possession of the ball, she wasn’t afraid to keep trying to win it back from the opposition either and regularly found space to receive a pass.

Mia made Rothwell’s defence work hard to stop her getting to goal or passing to her team mates for a shot. She had a great defensive game meaning the other girls could concentrate on pushing forward knowing she and Sophie had it covered at the back.

Isla has taken another leap forward with her skills having been putting in the hard work all season. She made some excellent turns to give herself space and was looking up for the best option all game. Isla also did a great job of communicating with her team letting them know she was there or where she was passing.

Lara had so much energy and determination the whole time she was on the pitch. Primarily playing up front she was stuck in and chasing after the ball with her eyes on the goal.

Isabel was the player of match for a strong passing performance, making space and putting in some really well timed passes and shots on goal.

Well done girls! A cracking game to watch.
