MATCH REPORT

under 9 girls v blaby

5th April 2021

Seven very excited girls arrived at Kilsby Lane in glorious sunshine for their first league game of 2021.

Both sides got stuck in straight away, with both teams very evenly matched.

All of the girls worked really hard in all of the positions they played during the match.

Isla made some impressive poaching tackles to regain possession and made a number of attempts on goal.

Mia played in defence for most of the game thwarting a number of scoring attempts by Blaby. She confidently gained possession and zipped up the pitch to put their defence under pressure.

Isabel started in defence alongside Mia and made some cracking tackles before turning and heading back up the pitch to shoot. She also took a number of corners which proved tricky for Blaby to deal with.

Sophie started in goal making some cracking saves before a spell out on the field where she made some brilliant passes and put her goalkeeping kicks to good use to get us back in the Blaby half.

Brooke played up front to begin with and maintained possession well, she forced them to put the ball out for a throw on several occasions. She later switched to defence taking on corner duty to feed the ball to Isla and Lara up front.

Lara got stuck straight into the match playing up front. She showed great commitment when in possession and quickly got stuck in to win back lost balls.

Our newest team member Elisia fit in with the team perfectly. After a spell out on the field she played the remainder of the game in goal making some seriously brave saves which didn’t phase her at all. She was awarded player of the match for her willingness to get stuck in and for her bold goalkeeping skills. Well done Elisia!
