MATCH REPORT

U9 Girls travel to Croft

4th October 2020

After the relentless rain in the run up to match day the girls were pleased to be able to play as planned over at Croft.

The girls got off to a great start really settling quickly into their formation, giving themselves and their team mates plenty of space to play, often playing themselves out of danger. We’ve seen a huge improvement from the girls with their new formation this season and each girls confidence on the pitch is going from strength to strength with each match they play together. They were also making plenty of tackles and challenges to get possession back from Croft whenever they lost it.

Isla and Isabel each took their first turn in goal today. After some trepidation from Isla about being in goal she took to it really well and looked like a pro. When she was out on the field after being in goal she was straight back to chasing down the ball and working hard. Our new number 10 Isabel made a marvellous catch in the second half to stop Croft scoring. She also had some brilliant attempts on goal.

Sophie having largely played in goal last season is thoroughly enjoying time out in the field and is a reliable player in defence and midfield. All with a smile firmly on her face as she plays.

Off the back of last weeks player of the match accolade Brooke showed more improvements this week having worked on her passing in training on Friday.

Mia undertook captain duties today and led the team confidently. A heavy challenge on her just outside the area lined up a superb free kick.

Lara again showed improvement this week, with improving stamina and commitment to see through chances. She had a brilliant shot on goal that clattered the cross bar. Lara was given player of the match for her positive attitude, the improvement she is showing each week and for some fab attempts on goal today!

On to the next fixture.
