Match Report

U8 Girls v Rugby Town U8s

28th September 2020

Leicestershire Women’s and Girls U8s Football League

For the newly formed Rugby Borough U8’s this was our first game together as a team. We were playing our good neighbours Rugby Town just a stone’s throw from Kilsby lane.

Naturally the girls were nervous however once the whistle blew the nerves disappeared and were replaced with team work and an energy that provided end to end football. Both sides were evenly matched and this was evident with plenty of runs and passing that showed they were not afraid to express their footballing skills on the pitch. The Borough defence considering it’s limited playing time really showed promise and blocked wave after wave of Town’s attacks with the goalkeeper showing cat like reflexes.

Our midfield and striker were constantly testing the Town defence causing them many problems with their pace, some brilliant inter passing and mazy runs. At half time we all had to catch our breath (coaches included).

The second half saw a resurgent Rugby Town really test the Borough girls defence with some strong runs however the Borough defence really stepped up giving 100% and the midfield worked tirelessly to get back and support their team mates. It was apparent that there were now some very tired legs on the field, this however did not stop both sides producing more brilliant attacking football and it was clear to see from the parents all cheering and clapping that these teams were really enjoying their first fixture of the season.

At the end we were left with 7 tired RB girls, one very proud coach and smiles all round.

WE GO AGAIN!!
