MATCH REPORT

U11 Girls v Asfordby

15th November 2021

The girls made the long away trip to Asfordby with a depleted squad however they were determined to carry on their good run.   With a few of the team carrying an injury and only 1 sub it was going to be a tough ask to do this.

The team started off on the front foot as they so often do,  good passing through the midfield saw the girls creating lots of chances with Amber & Emily going close,  as the team pressed forward Ruby joined the action and had some shots blocked or saved by the keeper.  On the wing Anna was finding lots of space to press forward and good passing by Megan set her up for some good crosses into the box,  they also both had good efforts on target in the first half but were unable to find the breakthrough.   At the other end Peyton & Sophia were defending brilliantly to keep the opposition down to one chance which Chloe was on hand to make a good save.

The second half started well with Rugby getting the rewards their efforts deserved through a fine curler into the top corner from Megan.

The injuries and lack of subs started to take effect now and Asfordby started to come into the game more.  Whilst Rugby pushed forward for another the opposition had their own ideas and started to put together some very dangerous breaks which seen them convert on a couple of occasions.

The girls were determined to hold onto their record and for the last 5 mins through everything they had at the opposition,  it was relentless attacking with Anna & then Megan seeing good shots on target saved by the keeper.

Asfordby remained dangerous on the counter attack and a good save by Chloe kept the game alive.  Unfortunately despite the amazing effort from the girls they were unable to find that goal towards the end.

A really entertaining game & one the girls certainly deserved more out of.  The team have already secured promotion to the top league & we all look forward to seeing the girls test themselves vs the best.

Player of the match goes to Anna for great awareness, passing & movement.
