MATCH REPORT

U10 Girls v Rugby Town

12th May 2021

The U10 girls hosted our neighbours Rugby Town on Sunday Afternoon in the traditional windy conditions at Kilsby Lane.

Leah started in goal and showed great handling throughout whilst also pushing the team forward with her strong kick outs.  The defence had a busy afternoon however some strong tackling from Sophia and Lyra helped to prevent many opportunities whilst in midfield Peyton showed her usual determination to win the ball back and push forward with it.  Summer continues to show she can play in various positions and closed the opposition down well whether in defence or midfield.  During the first half the attack line of Ruby, Anna, Amber & Emily worked some good opportunities between them are were unlucky on a few occasions not to get the reward.

The girls started the second half well and it was great to see some excellent combination play from Ruby & Amber to create an opportunity.  Anna was showing good composure & willingness to try to keep the ball and drive the team forward.  Emily was also looking to pass forward when the opportunity came.  Leah moved into midfield for the 2nd half and made lots of strong tackles.  Lyra, Summer & Sophia rotated the defensive positions and worked hard to shut down opposition attacks.  Peyton volunteered to go in goal for the 2nd half and made some excellent saves towards the end of the game.

It was probably the toughest match yet for this still relatively new team and it was great to see the girls keep going to the end.

Player of the match was Peyton for making some excellent saves.
