MATCH REPORT

U10 Girls v Harborough Town

26th April 2021

U10 Girls continue their fine form.

The girls made the relatively short trip along the A14 to take on Harborough Town in an exciting league match.

This match was the 2nd in 3 days for all of the team, and 3rd in 3 days for some so there was a little trepidation when seeing the large pitch however the girls settled in very quickly to their surroundings.

The first whistle saw Rugby take the game to the opposition with the girls pressing forward, some great play the front 3 of Ruby, Anna & Amber led to changes with Amber continuing her fine form in front of goal.  At the back Summer was demonstrating tenacious tackling breaking up play whilst Lyra showed excellent reading of the game to cover any dangerous attacks that Harborough made.

Peyton was breaking up play in the middle of the park and driving the team on.  In defence Sophia was tackling everything that came her way whilst Emily was again finding some good positions and demonstrating great passing.

Leah had a relatively quiet first half in goal however when needed she stopped anything that came her way & also set up some good attacks with her long kicking

After a well-deserved break the girls emerged for the 2nd half and started as they had left off.  It was a very competitive game throughout with a lot of it being played in the middle of park although Rugby showed some great moments of quality with Anna demonstrating great footwork to create chances & Ruby showing that she can take a mean free kick.  Emily was managing to get into some good positions to test the opposition keeper.

Amber was driving forward at every opportunity on the wing, whilst Lyra, Sophia & Summer worked hard to block any attacks.

Peyton took another stint in goal & made a great block at her near post.  Leah slotted into the midfield position and was immediately involved in making several great tackles & passes.

Another great performance by the team who demonstrated that as well as playing good football they can also dig in where necessary.

Player of the match was Lyra for excellent awareness & covering in defence
