MATCH REPORT

U10 Girls v Blaby & Whetstone

The newly formed U10’s travelled to Blaby & Whetstone for their first ever match together and they put on quite a show.  Having a small squad of 7 for the match meant that all the girls would play the full 50 mins giving them plenty of game time.

The first period started with Summer bravely stepping forward to be our first goalkeeper and she made several good clearances, the initial defence of Lyra and Peyton started well & became even more assured as the game went on making lots of good interceptions.  Mia worked extremely hard covering the whole pitch from central midfield and her tackling helped set up Amber and Anna on the wings who showed their excellent dribbling skills to take the game to the opposition. Emily led the line well up front and kept the opponents on their toes.   Lyra then took over in goal in the 2nd period with Summer slotting into a defensive position where she showed excellent reading of the game to break up play and start attacks.

Moving into the 3rd and 4th periods some of the girls tried new positions, the flow of the game was one way traffic at this time with the Rugby girls pinning the opposition back and creating a whole host of chances only to be denied by the woodwork on numerous occasions and excellent goalkeeping. At the other end Emily kept the opposition out when required.

We are all very proud of all of the girls for their performance in their first match,  they all played very well.  Hopefully we don’t have too long to wait to see them in action again.

Player of the match – Mia for her tireless running and excellent tackling
