MATCH REPORT

Rugby Town U8 v Rugby Borough U8’s

21st April 2021

Rugby U8’s made the short journey to our friends at Rugby Town. The weather was sunny however deceptively cold .This did not stop the girls putting in 100% effort.

From the first whistle the girls showed a real determination to try and play what we have been practising hard on Friday evenings training sessions. It was a delight to see them not only playing attacking football however it made me proud as a coach to witness their developing close control skills and abilIty to look and pass In to space.

Rugby Town u8 v Rugby Borough u8 girls - player of the match

Willow and Betsy both took turns in goal and made some crucial saves, they both have developed in to confident keepers who are never afraid to block any attacks.

Nora and Caitlyn put in lots of goal saving tackles and never stopped smiling despite the Winter line conditions.

Roisin ran and ran all game. She’s was a constant threat however what was pleasing to see was her passing game has come on so much as she looks to support other players.

Alice was a constant threat on the Rugby goal and her aim was Zero’d in as she troubled the Rugby goal from all angles.

Elizabeth has grown in stature and has become a Lynch pin in the team. She can read the game so well and makes essential tackles, coupled with her ability make defence splitting passes providing opportunities to trouble the opposition goal. When she gets in front of goal she is a constant threat to the net 🙂

Despite the disruptive season this team have shown what hard work and dedication can deliver. We look forward to the extended season in to the summer starting with home fixture vs Coalville.
