MATCH REPORT

Rugby Borough U12 Panthers vs Warwick Jnrs

11th September 2021

Great start for the Panthers!

So today saw Rugby Borough Junior Football Club Panthers kick off their first ever competitive match.

They were up for it from the start going close a couple of times until Luke found Victor who slotted home for the Panthers first (5). Jonah then won the ball back in the middle and his shot was parried into the path of Lucas for the second (10). Then it was Lucas who turned provider with a high press and a neat pass to Victor for goal number three (13).

Panthers kept on applying the pressure and Lucas snatched the ball back after Warwick tried playing out from the back for Panther’s fourth (16).

With Kyle, William and Alfie working together as a solid 3 at the back Warwick found it difficult to create, they had the ball in the net once but it was deemed offside.

Second Half – Panther’s Keeper Jaiden came of injured so Liam stepped up and went in goal, coming out and sweeping brilliantly on a couple of occasions. A Jonah corner found Lucas at the back post for Panther’s fifth and Lucas’ hat trick (43).

Panther’s got caught twice on the break after piling forward, one resulted in a free kick and great save from Liam, the other ended in a goal. Lucas was amongst the action again finding Ollie for Panther’s sixth (56) and then Kyle got amongst the goals with a strike from distance that he celebrated with a little dance! (59)

Hats off to the Warwick team who never stopped. Panthers played a great team game today and it was nice to see, lead by a true captains performance from Jonah. Getting 3 points on the board early was well deserved.

Man of the match – Lucas – Involved in 5 out of 7 goals and never stopped running.

Captain next week – Jayden – played his first 40 mins in about 2 years and even hit the bar, was nice to see him enjoying it and not in pain
