Rugby Borough Girls U12s v Cosby United Youth Girls U12s
1st December 2019
A dominant display from Borough Girls U12s against Cosby United Youth U12s at Kilsby Lane.
The girls were happy to finally get a game played after the recent wet weather and were a little worried this one would get postponed too due to the harsh frost on the previous morning but the sun came out and the pitch was good to go.
Erin suffered an injury in the warm up with a bloody nose after a ball rebounded off the post straight into her face, nurse Jasmine rushed in with a huge bandage to mop up the blood and Erin assured us she was good to go. She was a visual bystander for most of the game but always ready to commit to action when called upon.
Straight from the off the girls dominated possession and it was pretty much the same throughout the whole game with Cosby getting a couple of chances with quick through balls to their forward player when the defence was caught napping or trying to get back from their centre forward positions.
Isabella is continuing to work hard and looked more reassured on the ball, putting in some great tackles and layed the ball off well for the midfielders.
Maya, Katie & Marley were solid as ever at the back, playing it out properly whenever possibly, they were covered ably by a slightly under the weather Jasmine. Another one returning from illness this week was Lila who performed reasonably well in the centre of midfield playing with both the parents players Holly and coaches player Madi and both scoring hat-tricks. Holly’s first for the club with Madi getting a superb glancing header from a corner from Jasmine to add to her three.
Millie made her home debut with a strong performance out on the right wing and also got a couple of well taken goals too, proving that she will be a great asset to the team for the rest of the season.
Melissa linked up well with the midfield and wingers with some great passing moves and the Cosby defence couldn’t cope with her pace when running at them, deserved her two goals for all of her hard work.
The whole team put in a great deal of work, not just the goal scorers today but all the team together as a unit which was very pleasing.
Thank you to Molly for officiating the match and to Fiona and Lloyd for expert assistant refereeing. Great support for the girls too from all the parents and friends.
