Rugby Borough Colts U16 vs Atherstone Vipers – Sponsored by Arctic Trucks

11th October 2020

Rugby Borough U16 Colts (1) vs Atherstone Vipers (3)

The Colts were below par, with injuries and absentees taking their toll. They started brightly though, with Thomas and Somi both testing the keeper. However, Atherstone hit the Colts on the break to go ahead. Shortly after that Sam made a good save but could do nothing later in the half as a sliced cross swerved into the goal.

A long range free kick from Fin just before half time brought the Colts back into contention. But despite trying to push forward in the second half, they found an Atherstone team with numbers behind the ball and who were looking to counter attack.

Borough goalkeeper Sam made a couple more good saves, and Harry added some goal saving blocks as Atherstone showed dangerous attacking intent. But Will, Harry, Nathan and Herbie kept those chances to a minimum. They were also supported by Devan, Fin, Danny, Alfie and Jack who all battled hard in midfield. However, on this occasion, a late goal from Atherstone sealed the victory for the visitors.
