Interview with RBFC coaching team

Meet the new RBFC Mens Coaching Team

8th October 2020

Rugby Borough FC recently announced Jamie Tank and Dan Elliot as the new management team for the 2020/21 season. We caught up with them to find out more about their plans.

Having previously coached the side Jamie returns with added motivation to take the team to the next level. Speaking about his return, Tank says:

“It’s a great feeling to be back, this will be my fourth season with the club, so it’s time to get the club into step six. If it takes us a couple seasons to get there, then so be it.”

“Winning the league must be a priority.”

The coaching duo were brought in to take the club to the league title after COVID-19 disrupted last season. Looking ahead, Rugby Borough will be looking to finish the 2020-21 season with a trophy. As Elliott explains:

“Winning the league must be a priority. There is work to be done, but this is all a learning experience for us. I don’t want to win the league on a technicality. I want to win games and win them well.”

However, Rugby Borough is not the only team fighting for the title. Last season the league was competitive and Tank acknowledges that:

“It’s going to be a tough season, I’d imagine the top six teams from last season have strengthened so it’s going to be competitive!”

The club has so much potential”

The first team was formed in 2017 and continues to build from past successes. Looking ahead, Jamie and Dan see a lot of potential:

“The club as a whole is brilliant, the club has so much potential. You don’t see many non-league or grassroots football clubs with the facilities that we have to offer for the community and the boys and girls who play at the club.”

Thinking about the RBFC First Team project, and looking ahead, Elliott says:

“We’ve got the backing and we’ve got the facilities. The dream would be to see a Rugby Borough side playing up at Butlin Road against Rugby Town and I believe we’ve got the infrastructure and support to do that.”
