Leamington Hibs vs Rugby Borough Women

Rugby Borough had quite a rushed and sloppy start to the game. However, an early challenge on Cheryl in the box saw her subbed off with an injury and Rugby Borough were awarded a penalty. Captain Nat stepped up and scored a good penalty putting Rugby Borough ahead within the first few minutes of the match.

The game carried on to be a bit soppy but Rugby managed to keep possession. After a water break, Rugby came back in better form. After a quick corner from Beth and Bailey, Beth was able to cross the ball in for Lexi to head from the back post, making it Lexi’s first goal for the club! Having gone 2-0 up, Rugby were making decent passes and keeping hold of the ball well. Rugby were awarded a free kick which Beth took from the edge of the box and scored to make it 3-0. Just before half-time, Cammie ran onto a through ball and made it 4-0 to Rugby.

Half time score: Leamington Hibs 0 – 4 Rugby Borough

Rugby made a positive start to the second half, still managing to keep the majority of possession through passing well. Shortly into the second half Maxwell scored two quick goals, putting Rugby 6-0 up. Continuing to press on the Leamington side, Em scored but the goal was disallowed for being offside. Nat then scored the 7th goal from a free kick and Rugby continued to complete nice link up play. Having created a few more chances, Rugby had another goal disallowed due to being offside again.

Full-time result:

Leamington Hibs 0 – 7 Rugby Borough Women

Very good first game back into a competition, despite losing Cheryl and Charlotte to injury – wishing them both a speedy recovery!
